The biggest pet peeve clients would have with me over the years was lighting for bathrooms would always struggle with face lighting. LED mirrors or light up mirrors as they can be cooled allow for face lighting where before we were limited by wall lights.

Are LED mirrors good for a bathroom?

When it comes to LED Mirrors the LED lights are surprisingly durable when compared to other lights like them on the market. These types of LED mirrors can withstand many types of wear-and-tear damage and will look great for years to come. They are certainly more durable than average light bulbs in a bathroom setting and are great for rooms with high moisture.

Do LED mirrors need to be wired?

So one of the biggest reasons these types of mirrors are not in every bathroom is due to the need for them to be hard-wired. You will need to have an electrician run power to the place the mirror is going unless they are a mirror that is battery powdered which I would highly advise against. The average electrician in Australia might charge somewhere between $150 to $400 to wire up a LED bathroom mirror depending on the difficulty of getting the power to the location.

Do lighted mirrors work?

YES! Lighted mirrors work incredibly well when it comes to lighting up the area you standing at. If you are using a lighted mirror though to light the whole bathroom it would not be ideal as it only beams towards the vanity area and a little past it. If you looking for a more complete bathroom lighting experience the key is to add downlights with the LED mirror.

Are light up mirrors good for putting on face makeup?

Light up mirrors are awesome for putting on face makeup. When you have lighting for putting on make up you want that light at you not above or below you creating shadows so the light up led mirrors are perfect for putting on make up or doing activities to your face. The light can be changed to warm lighting or cool lighting depending on how you want to put the makeup style to your face to the LED mirror is ideal.

Do backlit mirrors provide enough light? 

Yes, backlit mirrors provide just the right amount of illumination for what you need mirrors for. The lights placed behind the mirror give off ample brightness that allows you to see your reflection clearly. Mirrors with backlighting do provide enough light for any task where a well-lit reflection is needed. This includes applying makeup, styling hair, and shaving.

Why you should have Light up LED mirror you in your bathroom?

The reason you should have a Light Up Mirror is for the person who wants the ideal lighting for a face lighting. LED Mirrors are the best example of lighting you can get at face level without having to do wall lights that compliment your mirror which can get complicated and a lot more expensive.

One other great benefit of LED mirrors is that they add a little bit of luxury to your bathroom and are an awesome addition for resale as people love gadgets it also adds a softness to the space as you swap the lights from warm to cool lighting.

Why you shouldn’t have a light up LED mirror in your bathroom?

There are two reasons why you should not have Light UP LED mirrors in your bathroom. The first reason is the cost, often as mentioned above you could be adding a few hundred dollars in installation let alone the hundreds and hundreds of dollars to actually buy it.

The second biggest reason you should not have a LED mirror is that it lacks storage. If you are someone with a small bathroom are you trying to get the most out of the space there is a lack of LED mirror cabinets that work the way you ideally would want and if they do they are massively overpriced.

Final Thoughts

As we have covered above light up mirrors are ideal for anyone who wants face lighting. They are the best lighting and the most practical lighting to get practical lighting as I call it instead of ceiling lighting which is always behind you. If you can afford it I would highly recommend light up mirrors for your next bathroom renovation. If you can get a LED mirror that also has a Demister it adds an extra layer of luxury to the bathroom mirror which can get fogged up if you are coming out of a shower.

So are led mirrors worth it? In my opinion yes they are, for what they cost at the mid range they provide a luxury to a bathroom that should costs thousands that is not only practical but as mentioned full of WOW.
