Expert Guide To Small Bathroom Shower Screens

We all hate having a small bathroom but even worse is trying to work out how your shower screen is going to work in this small bathroom. A shower screen will often be the biggest item in your small bathroom so getting it right will be crucial in a happier life.

Let me help you with one of the most annoying parts of renovating a small ensuite which is the main focus I have for this as they are lot more complicated.

There are three types of shower screen options you can do for small bathroom set ups.

  • 1.Open Shower (Ideal)
  • 2. Pivot Door (Most Common)
  • 3. On Rail Set Up (Least Appealing)

Open Shower Screens For Small Bathrooms

Ideally we would all have open showers in our tiny bathroom set ups. Ensuite with an open shower are a much easier to keep clean bathroom.

Open showers are defined by me as any shower that has one panel or glass or bricked wall used as shower screen.

Furthermore the open shower will have one part open and allow water to escape but only fractionally if tiled correctly.

To get an open shower in a small ensuite though is not easy, you always want the open shower away from the entrance of the bathroom..

Often though it is not possible or if it is it will compromise the vanity size

Below are the most common types of open showers you will get in small bathroom mainly ensuites.

Pivot Door Showers In Small Ensuites

Second on the list we have the pivot door shower or 3 piece shower screen for your ensuite.

Most often in smaller rooms it will hinge from the middle but with some larger rooms it will be square and open towards the entrance to the room.

So a few notes about pivot doors in smaller rooms.

One do not panic about the entrance door and the shower door hitting each other, trust me you rarely open both at the same time

Secondly full screens in small bathrooms are great for people who want to have water more contained and add a little warmth to their morning.

On Rail Sliding Shower Screen

Shower screens that are on rails or having a sliding componet are the least popular ensuite shower screen you will ever come across.

Popular in the 80’s and 90’s rolling slider screens have become a no go for many renovators due to two major factors.

Firstly anything that has moving parts will break down quicker in a space where humans of all shapes and strenghts use it
