One of the most frequently asked questions we get about Australian wet room renovations is how small of space do you need to make a wet room work. What are the minimum space requirements for a wet room and what is the smallest a wet room can be?

There are a lot of interruptions of a wet room I will focus more on a traditional Australian wet room which is vanity, screen and bath.

When it comes to the all-on-the-same wall wet room I call it, where all your items are located on one wall.
The minimum size you need for this wet room is ideally 2500mm Long (Vanity Wall) x 1550mm (Often Window Wall).
Below are two examples of this small wet room spacing which uses 750mm Vanity, 900mm Shower Space With 50mm Gap Between Vanity and Shower and 800mm for the bath space.

Is there a minimum size for a wet room?
For this reason, only there is a minimum size for a wet room renovation. That reason is about being functional. The smallest size for a wet room to function is at worst 2m Wide.

This 2m size is as small as a person could ever have these wet rooms to actually function as a bathroom space.

Ideally, you want to have no smaller than a 750mm vanity in your wet room,
You can make it work under that size you just have to get creative, smaller wet rooms or the smallest you can really do a wet room and make it look nice with the all-on-one wall which is what I recommend is the 2300mm mark using a 600mm vanity.

You can make the shower space 800mm in width if you really wanted.
Though it is 100mm under the standard Australian shower space size but because it has no door and a bath is only knee height it won’t feel that cramped.

Final Recap
So to recap what we have covered above the smallest you want your wet room to really be is 2500mm Wide (Vanity Wall) x 1600mm (Bath Wall) .
You can try and make it work for smaller sizes but wet rooms that go under that size will really compromise bench space or shower sizes.
