Bathroom Heating – Expert Guide

Welcome to your ultimate guide to bathroom heating. Australia is not the coldest place in the world, well if you speak to my mum who lives in the middle mountain regions of the NSW it can be pretty bloody cold but for the rest of us who don’t live in this extreme location most of the cold weather is not too bad. Most of the time we live in a climate that does not ask for bathroom radiators or underfloor heating but we are here to guide you through all your options to help with that next bathroom renovation with a little bit of Luxury.

Below are the 3 most common types of bathroom heating you should consider before your next bathroom renovation.

  • Bathroom Heating In The Ceiling
  • Wall Mounted Bathroom Heating (Rails, Bars, and Machines)
  • Underfloor Bathroom Heating

Ceiling Heating

Below is the most common type of bathroom ceiling heating in Australia for a bit of bathroom heating luxury

Ceiling Heaters

Probably the most common type we install in a  bathroom is an all-in-one unit that combines the heater, lights and exhaust fan. They are perfect for small bathrooms since they don’t take up any floor or wall space.

Two types of overhead heaters are available. One that combines all three elements or one that is just a heat lamp. These styles of items do often require multiple switches to operate so often the cost can be higher to install. CLICK THE IMAGE BELOW OR HERE FOR FULL THE ARTICLE

Against All Walls

Another option for bathroom heating is the wall-mounted heater, also known as a panel heater. These heaters can be installed against the wall, but a unit built into the wall will save space in the bathroom and look like an integral part of the bathroom rather than just an add-on heater.

The second option though can be quite extensive work to get into the room. The downside of the style below is often just the look of them but work quite well.

Underfloor Bathroom Heating

One form of bathroom heating that is becoming more and more popular is underfloor heating for bathrooms.  Underfloor bathroom heating needs to be installed when the concrete slab is being poured so it is best for new homes or extensions.

This type can be installed after you remove your floor tiles when you’re renovating your bathroom.  Undertile heating will warm your tiles, but will not warm the room that much. It’s the most expensive heating you can add to your bathroom renovation. CLICK HERE OR THE IMAGE BELOW FOR THE FULL ARTICLE

Heated Towel Rails

I love heated towel rails as they often function in two ways. They radiate gentle heat into the room and also heat and dry your towels. A warm towel may be all you need to motivate you to step out of that shower on a cold morning.

You will get two choices when it comes to this style

1. is to have it with a plug which is like above or hard-wired like below. Hardwiring is often more expensive so it’s important to take that into consideration. One last thing to consider with the heated towel rails is to install them away from the eye line of a shower head on a hose to no one accidentally sprays it.

Vertical Heated Towel Rail

The alternative to the standard 5-bar horizontal heated towel rail we have the vertical heated towel rail bar which has been the most popular bathroom heating of the last two years and many more years to come.

The Size and Shape Of Bathrooms Effect on Heating

It really depends on the size and shape of the bathroom when considering which type of bathroom heater to install. While there are many options that are ideal when space is at a premium, not all bathroom heaters are suitable for use in smaller spaces without causing inconvenience.

For larger bathrooms, consideration of how effective the heater will be across the space should be the focus of attention, while for smaller rooms the best place for the heater which takes up the least space may be the more important factor.

So What Heating Is Right For My Bathroom?

The type of bathroom heating that you choose will depend on the amount of heat that you need and the budget that you have.  For example, if you’re on a tight budget, a heat lamp can be more than enough for a small bathroom as they are cheaper to install and not too expensive to run compared to underfloor heating.

Furthermore, if your budget is on the higher end why not incorporate multiple single-bar heat rails like the example below to add luxury to your bathroom design or renovation.

Additionally, if you only need gentle heating, however, a heated towel rail may be more than enough. It’s important to consider how much you are going to use it before making any decisions.
