Pros Frameless Shower Screens

The feeling of A Bigger Room

One of the most popular tricks to visually enlarge the size of the bathroom is the use of absolutely transparent walls of the shower. They often can create a clean, modern and sexy look in your bathroom. Depending on the design the screen maybe the first thing that hits your eyes so its important to see through not closing the room in.

Cons Of Frameless Shower Screens

Looks Modern

Frameless showers look modern, sleek and add a light look to the bathroom. People who opt for the design point out the elegant appearance and modern design.

Allows You To Show Off

Without anything impeding your view into the shower you can see the beautiful tiling or feature you have spent months agonising over.

Easy Cleaning

The relatively easy maintenance is another of the advantages for choosing frameless shower screens. They do not have any tracks which means that there is no channel for mold to grow. The lack of metal frame also means that there is no risk of corrosion or rust. Frameless glass showers are made of thick 12mm toughen glass which makes them very durable.

Cons Of Frameless Shower Screens

Leaks

One of the biggest cons is the possibility of leakage through the gap around the door as the frameless shower screens are installed directly to the wall with minimal hardware. In case that the glass for the frameless door is not precisely cut and installed, the door may not close perfectly.

Cons Of Frameless Shower Screens Perth

Costs

A major drawback of frameless glass screens is the cost. The glass that is heavier and thicker than traditional shower doors which means it is more costly. Most frameless shower doors are custom made and there is additional labor to craft and install them. The extra labor costs also add to the price.

It Will Leak

Probably con for frameless shower screens is they will leak. That leaking can range from a small dribble the same you would get drying on a matt after a shower to pouring out the sides if made or installed incorrectly. The key is to expect some leaking water to come through. The frame is usually what stops the majority of water.

Larger Drains

Larger drains should be installed with frameless shower screens especially if you use large tiles and its highly recommend you have the strip drains to get rid of the water faster especially if you are having a hobless shower.

If you are comfortable with a little bit of water sometimes go with the frameless screen as they really do have a wow factor its only the almost double the cost factor that still I feel is too expensive but you get what you pay for with the feeling of quality you get with heavy glass of that.

  1. My favorite part of this article is when you say that frameless shower screens help your bathroom to feel bigger. This would be a huge benefit because one of the bathrooms in my home is very small and this could help it to feel like there is more space. Also, the fact that frameless showers are easy to clean and you don’t have to worry about mold. I will make sure to share this information with my husband when we start planning our bathroom remodel project.

  2. I’m getting a new shower after my kids cracked the other one, and I’m considering getting a frameless screen. As you said, it’s easy to clean, and they are very durable, which is important if I don’t want a repeat incident. My husband and I will be talking to contractors tomorrow about options, and overall, I think I’m excited for the new metal-free design.

  3. I wanted to thank you for helping me learn more about frameless shower screens. I didn’t know that these could help the room seem much bigger. This sounds ideal especially if you have smaller bathrooms in your home.

  4. The best part of your blog is when you said that frameless shower doors look sleek and modern. As you said, they provide an elegant appearance. My husband and I will consider this because we want to have our bathroom renovated next month. • Hi Shammy, I am glad I could help in any way. Frameless screens do you look amazing you might want to get them sealed if you are getting it custom made with Enduro Shield to make it easier to clean but if its just a fixed panel its probably too small to need it. Good luck with the renovation if you ever need any advice I am always happy to help. Jim
