Lighting in a bathroom can make or break the look and feel of the room. What type of lighting will you use? Where will you place the light? What type of fixtures and finishes do you want? Understanding the basic concepts of bathroom lighting will make answering these questions much easier and result in a beautiful, well-lit space. Effective bathroom lighting will provide enough light to carry out activities such as applying make up, brushing teeth, shaving as well as other duties such as illuminating the entire space.
Types of Lighting
Combination Lighting
Commonly referred to as Light and Fan combination are the most modern form of bathroom lighting. Combing the often existing fan with a current light outlet into one complete design. The adding of the heat globes to the mix will often add to a higher degree of electrical work as most bathroom do not have enough wires for all the components. This requires an electrician to run extra wire to the current light switch so always make sure to go through at the start of the renovation opposed to the end where it will be a lot more difficulty especially if it’s already tiled to ceiling height.
Below is a bathroom renovation in Maylands Western Australia that not only is a light/fan/heat but adds down lights for more light then you could ever need.

Downlights
Down-lights are either recessed or standard spotlights that create focus points on decorative features, basins or tilework. Examples of this form of lighting are strip lighting, spotlights and adjustable down-lights. Using either standard of LED down-lights you can create a wonderful wow effect on a feature you really want people’s eyes drawn to. Inexpensive to buy and in expensive to install I couldn’t recommend them more highly. Compared to the heat lamps they use little electrics

Natural Lighting
A carefully placed window or skylight will add volumes of daylight to you bathroom. Even the smallest window can brighten and open up your room, as well as provide added ventilation. Everyone will agree that having access to natural light in bathrooms is ideal. Windows and skylights provide ambient bright illumination throughout the day and will also help to reduce power usage.
