Guaranteed Bathroom Tiling Trends Of 2023 and 2024

Welcome to the number one tiling trend for bathrooms in 2023 and 2024 which has been booming for the last 9 months of the year. For me the 2023 tiling trends in bathrooms will be two styles.

This trend is a pretty simple one but takes a few different forms and does not really have a name but I will call it the half-and-half tiling trend.

There are two ways to install this trend and there are same same but different if you know what I mean

One is the entire room is half tiled the other method is the half wall tiled. Let me break it down below

Around The Room Trend

Without a doubt, the around-the-room method is the least popular of the two bathroom tiling trends. It is though ramping up so I feel the trend will be big in 2023 and 2024.

Importantly the difference between this and the other method is you take the tile all the way around the room.

Instead of just doing it up one wall you take your feature either a mosaic or the floor around all the walls

Height wise you often take this tiling to 1200mm high which usually works out to be one tile above the vanity as a reference.

Biggest Tiling Trend Of 2023 Half Wall Floor Tile

Lastly, we have the most popular trend of 2023 bathroom tiling which is the half-wall floor tile feature.

Unlike the previous trend where it runs up all the walls this tiling trend only goes up one wall.

That wall is built to use as a shower ledge and runs up often the longest wall internal to the shower.

Why this method is so popular comes down to TWO FACTORS

Firstly and most importantly the rise of the built shower wall/ledge has created a unique opportunity to make it a feature

Secondly, the feature is super simple and makes it easy for the average renovator to go ahead with as you are not introducing a second tile.

Below is the best example of this tiling trend for 2023 especially in the Terrazzo tile trends

Examples I Like

Below are some beautiful examples of the trends that I love personally and would have in my own bathroom for 2023 and 2024

Contrary to the floor into the feature wall technique this example below is still the two-tile idea but the wall is a standalone feature in the space.

Is a wet room worth the added cost?

Additionally, these feature does not have to be in the shower area, the below example by the MJ Harris Group use the bathroom tiling trend to go behind the vanity area and touch of feature in the niche.

Lastly the example below by Just In Place goes all out on a herringbone blue which I think is daring but works because its below eye level.

So usually this type of feature would be too much but works so well with the space and thats important to understand make sure you feature goes with your space.

Do I Think The Trends Will Last?

Along with shower ledges, the two bathroom tiling trends I have listed above here for 2023 will definitely last but and there is always a but you need to do it right.

The floor-into-shelf technique is perfect for me and I think will outlast most trends for at least a decade to come the reason as mentioned is it is simple and effective.

Whereas the half-and-half method is a little more dramatic and takes a real belief and love in the tile you are putting around the room.

Bathroom tiling trends of 2023 and 2024 are going to be really bold, I am talking out there boldly with new and new ways to create features in your bathroom.

2023 in particular will have bathroom tiling looking like a scene out of the Teletubbies there is so much going on.

For you the renovator or homeowner looking to build reading this I will tell you to try and still blend features which are features that really go with your space.
