When it comes to the question of can you install a floor to ceiling shower screen, I will give you the basic of yes. Of course, it is possible to install a shower screen to the ceiling in a bathroom, but it comes with a few different challenges.

Firstly, there are two ways I am going to break down the ceiling high shower screen.

Along with the frame shower screen you get the frameless shower screens two very important differences.

Coupled with the two types of high shower screens you get two different sets of challenges I will cover next.

Two Types Of To The Roof Shower Screens

Full Height Shower screens come in two types of finishes as mentioned above the framed/semi frameless floor to ceiling screens and the fully frameless floor to ceiling screen.

Fully frameless shower screens that run to the ceiling are the hardest to install and have glass right to the edges.

Framed or semi frameless floor to ceiling shower screens are the easiest of the two as the trim runs around all the glass.

Cost wise the fully frameless screens will cost you two to three times more then the semi frameless screens.

If you are installing it yourself my suggestion would be take your time. Glass can and will explode at the wrong angles.

Finishing

My two big tips for now you have installed the high shower screen is, paint before you install it.

I know I should of mentioned that before but its a pain to paint the ceiling afterwards.

Lastly use enduro shield or other shower screen sealers on the screen before you install it.

The sealer is awesome for those high reaching places to keep them looking great.

Always the most popular question you get asked about these types of screens is cost. Most floor to ceiling shower screens are expensive to install and to purchase especially frameless.

Frameless ceiling high shower screens that are custom made cost around $3000 to $5000 depending on the size and your area.

Semi frameless ceiling high shower screens are around the $2k mark.

Sauna style shower set ups are common for people looking at installing high shower screens.

One of the big reasons you take shower to the ceiling is stop hot air from getting out creating a perfect environment for a steam shower.

Is Ventilation a issue for ceiling shower screens?

Big time you will have ventilation issue if you have a fully enclosed shower screen. Below are two examples.

The first is the fully enclosed shower area the second it he more modern concept of fixed panel to the ceiling screen.

Fixed panels are a much better idea for the person conscious of moisture and airflow

Unfortunately, as well you most likely won’t be able to have an exhaust fan in your shower area so windows are a must.

Are Floor To Ceiling Shower Screen Worth It

For my final thoughts I will tell you the truth no they are not worth. For the amount of cost and effort that goes into installing a shower screen that is floor to ceiling does not give you the positives you would wish for.

Let’s break that down further. Biggest positive would be the look of the screen, honestly looks amazing, secondly great for retaining heat.

On those cold days you will love it but lets get to the overwhelming negatives.

Firstly, it can cost 3 and sometimes 4 times a normal screen. Secondly glaziers really do not like installing them.

Biggest reason they do not like installing them is the amount of effort required and the high risk of the screen exploding can be not worth the hassle.

Lastly the poor ventilation often scares more people off.

All that is to say if you like the look and you do not mind spending the money you should get a floor ceiling shower screen but for me i will stick with the traditional set ups.
