Alternative Idea For Tall Storage In Small Bathrooms

The best alternative for tall storage, if you are not a fan of the tall boy set-up, is the open wall shelving set-up.

The open-wall shelving set-up requires either a double brick wall or the building of a thin wall to install adjustable shelving.

As you can tell from the the images below it allows you to have shelving that you can access everything inside if your hands are occupied.

Another alternative to the traditional bathroom tallboy is the sister of the tallboy the tallgirl.

Now I am joking but this smaller version of the tallboy allows you to have below storage and run the benchtop across.

The benefit of the bench mount tall cupboard is it is more subtle and deeper than a mirror cabinet allowing for hand towels, bottles or towels if needed.

Why I would give up bench space for tall storage

While it may be true that we all love bench space, for me storage is more important.

Living with a small bathroom can be frustrating especially if a few people use that tiny bathroom so getting a place to put all your items can become a challenge.

I am a big believer in getting rid of 400mm of bench space and installing that tall cupboard or tall boy as a lifesaver.

Yes, bench space is great but in a world of Mirror Cabinets you ideally don’t want all these products over your bench space it’s messy.

Even more, if you want to have a beautiful decorative mirror the tall boy cupboard lets you put those items you would usually have in the mirror cabinet in the tallboy.

In conclusion yes I would give up bench space for a tall boy because I believe deep down they are a much better use of space.
